⁣The "Slavyanka" powered tuk-tuk is already in Kazakhstan, and we're getting popcorn and sedatives ready to cheer on our team for 16 days!

While waiting for the start, we continue to introduce you to how the tuk-tuk was being prepared for the race. Oleg Kovalev, chief engineer of the "Resurs" production cooperative, and Vladimir Popov, the pilot of the car and investor in the project "Duyunov's motors", described the work that had been done. They also shared what strengths of the tricycle they were counting on.

First and foremost, it's the "Slavyanka" DA-90 combined winding motor made by ASPP Weihai, which was fitted on the original Bajaj Maxima tuk-tuk. The motor is energy efficient, doesn't overheat even in hot weather and is powerful enough to accelerate the tricycle.

Secondly, it's the increased solar panel area, which is meant to increase the driving range.

To recap, Solar Race starts on June 11 in Uralsk, and finishes on June 27 in Almaty. It will cover 2,700 kilometres in the harsh conditions of the Kazakh desert. Only solar-powered vehicles can participate.
